No one can turn you completely upside down and inside out. You must accept yourself as you are, instead of as you would like to be, which means giving up self-deception and wishful thinking.

Just reading the first line of this I would disagree - my kitties can turn me all sorts of messed up with their purrs, their illnesses, their looks of happy and their looks of despair and their looks for help. As I watched Otis sleeping in the crate in the car with his "lampshade" on his head, it made my heart drop and I just want to take it all away and make his world right again. I want to do better by him, not that any of this is my fault or anything but you just want them to understand and trust you. I hope he is still capable of that after all this.

I think animal companions can be rightly excluded from that "no one" category.
