Sunflowers 2025: Failure and Success

I wanted to add sunflowers to the new corner garden, in the back left corner of the yard. Started some seeds in an egg container, and they sprouted pretty well by June 8. They rather quickly outgrew the egg container, so I moved them to a planter on June 11. On June 20, I still had 9 of the 12 sprouts, and I planted them along the fence line in two locations.

Unfortunately, the heat dome at the end of June, and some critters (a groundhog and a bunny being the most likely culprits), have put an end to those sprouts. No sunflowers for the left corner ... at least ... not this summer, so far.

Egg carton sprouts on June 8; sprouts in planter on June 11;
sprouts planted along fence on June 20;
and the corner garden devoid of those sprouts as of July 14.

Anyway, I do have sunflowers for 2025, and it's a pretty good crop this summer. They are back in the right corner and along the right side again.
